‘We trust in Gelder Logistics’
Veldhuizen Grafisch Effect, located on the Harselaar industrial estate in Barneveld, Netherlands, designs, produces, and realizes graphic expressions in printing, print, sign, advertising, displays, and packaging.
Gelder Logistics provides container transport from the Far East for this all-round graphic company. “This involves a monthly transport of a 40-foot container, which arrives in Rotterdam via sea freight,” says director Gerhard Veldhuizen. A 40-foot container has a length of over 12 meters, with a height and width of about 2.5 meters. Once in the harbor, the cargo is cleared, which means that the customs formalities upon entry of goods into the EU are completed. The container is then loaded onto a truck. “It is ideal that Gelder Logistics also takes care of the administrative tasks. We therefore have no worries about that. We receive a date on which our shipment will arrive in Barneveld and we can count on that.”
Quickly switch with transport broker
The contact with the transport broker is pleasant, Veldhuizen says. “Whether we email, call, or text, they only need a short message. Short lines and quick switching. In the past, we worked with another party and then we had significantly more work on the transport than now with Gelder Logistics.”
On the subject of package transport, the transport broker has partnerships with reputable carriers. “For our package transport, we are currently looking at the possibility of an automatic link from the CRM. We give Gelder Logistics the work, and the trust is there.”
Gelder Logistics takes care of it
The successful collaboration goes further. “To unload a container, we have 2 hours. That is a nice job, where you still have to work hard with about 8 men. To help our own people with this task, we have sometimes used an employment agency. That was not a success. The temps found the work too heavy and left again. That did pose a challenge!” A call to the transport broker proved to be the solution. “Within 10 minutes, 3 people were on their way and together we had the container empty on time! I called Sebastian immediately for the week after. That is really Gelder: where possible, they jump in to take care of things.”
